A loan of $375 helped to buy several bags of fertilizer.

Juan's story

Juan, 41 years old, is unmarried and a hard worker. He lives with his sister Elisa, aged 49, and his mom Lucia, aged 87 years old. The family lives together in their own house, located in the hamlet of Ricrican.

Juan's days are focused on caring for his family and working hard, especially as his mom, being elderly, needs a lot of attention. Juan's crops are tubers of the potato and oyuco varieties; also beans. He has been growing his crops for 21 years, and they are grown with care and attention. It is said is that he is one of the best farmers in the area. Juan's secret is the tenacity, responsibility and dedication that he brings to his crops. At each harvest the same purchasers visit his farm land to buy his crops intact, despite him being in one of the most remote areas of the town.

Now this successful man wants to make inroads into tailoring, by opening a workshop in his home where he will be able to provide a service making and repairing clothing for the people of his town, who often ask for his help.

He belongs to the communal bank "Mirando a un Futuro Mejor" ("Looking for a Better Future"), and this is his seventh loan through MFP. He appreciates the constant support he receives from the communal bank, which motivates him on a daily basis to move ahead in life. On receiving the support, Juan will invest the requested money to buy bags of natural fertilizers which he will spread during the next planting.
