A loan of $1,250 helped a member to buy wool.

Los Andes 1 Group's story

The Communal Bank “Los Andes 1” is starting its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Senkata Community Center. The group consists of seven members and is led by a Board of Directors headed by Sra. Teodora. The members of the Communal Bank engage in different businesses in the retail, manufacturing, and service sectors in order to get ahead.

Sra. Teodora said that this is the first time she has worked with Pro Mujer. She was invited to join the organization by a promoter. Teodora currently has a business in which she knits blankets. Her friends convinced her to work several years ago.

The loan she is now receiving will be used to increase her capital for purchasing wool. She will buy the wool in the neighborhood of La Ceja and use it to make the products that she sells on request. Working in this manner allows her to generate income to support her family as much as possible. Teodora is married and has five children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Teodora said that she enjoys the training seminars.

In this group: Teodora, Paulina, Monica Nancy, Margarita , Sonia Noemi , Leandra, Nely
