A loan of $2,725 helped a member to purchase telephone booths.

Suma Chuyma Group's story

The “SUMA CHUYMA” communal bank is starting its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Santiago II Center. The group has 8 members and is directed by a board of directors headed by Mrs. Nola. The members' businesses are varied and include: a bakery; a sales representative; cosmetics; selling bedspreads and clothing; and selling second-hand clothing.

Mrs. Nola says that this is her first year working with Pro Mujer. She joined when friends invited her to form the group. She currently has an Entel store and an internet shop. She has done this for two years with her brothers' help.

The loan that she will now take out is to increase her working capital (purchasing phone booths), which she will purchase from the Huyustus and 16 de Julio [markets] and add to her store. This work allows her to generate an income to support her family where possible. She is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the training.

In this group: Nola, Barinia Pamela , Abigail , Estefani, Gladys Segundina, Mery, Yamilka Karol , Maria Guadalupe
