A loan of $750 helped to purchase livestock and fertilizers.

Rebeca's story

Rebeca, age 35, is a valiant single mother who lovingly cares for her two-year-old son Antony. She lives at her mother’s house in the village of Purhuaracra. Her reason for making progress is so that she can provide her son the best education. Rebeca has been working the land since she was 18 years old and has dedicated her efforts to farming. As a young girl, she learned everything that is required for growing potatoes and a variety of other vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, and other crops. She also grows alfalfa with the help of her sister. What she enjoys most is selling her crops in the city of Tarma. However, if her crops are in season, then she will take them to Lima to sell so that she can get a better price.

In addition to farming, Rebeca also raises livestock. She buys and sells sheep and cattle. Rebeca fattens the animals for eventual resale at a better price. She says that there are times when her returns are double the value of her original purchase price. Now she wants to save in order to improve her crops.

Rebeca is a member of the Communal Bank “Productores de Purhuaracra” (Producers of Purhuaracra) and this is her third loan with MFP. She hopes to obtain everyone’s financial support and promises to submit her payments on time. Once she receives the assistance, she will invest the money she requested in the purchase of several heads of cattle and sheep. She will also buy natural fertilizers to apply on her next crop of Andean potatoes.
