Dina's story

Dina, 24, is a fighting woman. Her family consists of her husband, Denis, and their 3 children, whom they adore. They live in their own house in the Unión Palomar community (central Peruvian jungle). Since she’s been married she has done several types of jobs. A little while ago she closed the carpentry business because of money problems. But with family effort, she is sure that soon it will reopen. Now she sells coffee plants that she grows in the greenhouses to transplant in the coffee fields. She is able to sell, on her best days, 1000 coffee seedlings. Her husband, Denis, has also farmed with her for the past 8 years. Their main crops are coffee, bananas, and avodados, selling the coffee beans in Villa Rica. As she tells us, this year she had the best income from the coffee bean sales because the increase in price in the market is very good. That’s why she is working hard to take advantage of the increase. She belongs to the communal bank “Prestatarios de Unión Palomar and this is her second loan with MFP. She is sure that she will get ahead with hard work and the financial support of all of you. She also promises to be punctual with her payments. She will use the money requested to buy natural fertilizers, coffee seeds and sacks to begin growing the coffee that she will soon start.
