Maribel's story

Maribel is a member of the communal bank "Las Aguerridas II" of the district of Tarapoto in the province and department of San Martin. She is married common-law and she is 28 years old. She has 2 daughters, aged 4 and 2 and they are in preschool.

When she was 20 years old she became employed as a secretary in an institution. She formed a family and she had her daughters and she quit her job to take care of their home. Under her own initiative and with her partner's support she started out selling ceviche (a traditional seafood dish of the region) from her house. Her first loan was in the amount of S./300 nuevos soles. She currently sells her product to her family, friends, and neighbors and to the general public. Gradually she has earned more clientele and she is very happy.

With this new loan in the amount of S/.1700 nuevos soles she will purchase more ingredients such as fish, seafood, sacks of yucca, sacks of potatoes, sacks of corns, sacks of sweet potatoes, sacks of onions, and sacks of lemons. This way she will be able to prepare her exquisite and very pleasant recipes.

Maribel is an achieving and enterprising woman whose dream is to have fish and seafood restaurant. She is very thankful to the Manuela Ramos movement (Kiva Field Partner) for providing her with the opportunity to keep growing.
