Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $2,000 helped a member to buy chickens and chicken feed.

Chances Group's story

This is 34-year-old Kudakwashe from Gweru, the capital of Midlands Province in Zimbabwe. He is married to a teacher and together they have two children, one attending school.

Kudakwashe runs a food business selling farm produce and chickens. The business has been in operation for two years. He says the main challenge he faces is transportation of products to market.

Kudakwashe has requested a loan of $400 to buy chickens and chicken feed. He says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow him to help sustain the family. In the future Kudakwashe plans to own and run a butchery.
