A loan of $775 helped to buy clothing, bed sheets, and sewing materials such as fabric, thread, buttons, and other items.

Eufemia Catalina's story

The Communal Bank “Empresarias Con Futuro” (Businesswomen with a Future) meets every 15 days in El Palmar in the city of Manta, which is known for its beautiful beaches that are frequented throughout the year. This city has unequaled beauty and many tourist attractions.

Sra. Eufemia is a founding member of the Communal Bank and enjoys having responsibility for her fellow group members and the organization. She is 54 years old and became a widow five years ago when her life partner passed away. Her children are grown and two of them still live with her. As a young girl, Eufemia learned how to sew and make clothes.

She has been earning her living in this manner for more than 30 years. Eufemia has a small sewing workshop in her home where she makes all types of clothing, especially for women and children. She also performs alterations for her customers who bring to her garments that need to be mended. Eufemia sews for people and neighbors who come to her house so that she can perform the required work. In addition to sewing, she also sells clothing and bed sheets from the same place where she engages in her work.

This loan will be used to buy clothing, bed sheets, and sewing materials such as fabric, thread, buttons, and other items. Her dreams are to have a larger workshop and to be in overall good health.
