Cuenca, Ecuador / Animal Sales

A loan of $900 helped to buy pigs.

Marianita De Jesús's story

Marianita is a member of the “Señoras de Taguan” (Taguan Ladies). She lives in San Bartolo Parish, a cold climate location. Its residents raise livestock and farm. Many work daily in the city of Cuenca returning home at night. They are very kind people who maintain their culture and traditions.

Marianita is 50 years old, married and had 7 children. Four of her children are married and independent. One works and helps her out economically. Another is in high school and the youngest goes to the little local school.

Marianita does her household chores but also raises cattle, sheep, pigs, guinea pigs and chickens that she sells in her community.

She’s been in the communal bank for a year and a half. She will use the new loan to buy pigs to expand her animal raising business. Her goal is to have many more animals.
