Rising Group's story

This is 37-year-old Lydia from Gweru, the capital of Midlands province in Zimbabwe. She is married with three children, two attending school. Her son works in South Africa. She also cares for one dependent. Lydia runs a cross-border clothing business selling clothes and shoes. The business has been in operation for 13 years. She says the main challenges faced are late payments and competition. Lydia has requested a loan of $400 to buy clothes from South Africa. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to increase disposable income and improve family's quality of life. In the future Lydia plans to have her own shop and employ people.
