A loan of $775 helped to buy materials for home construction (cement, blocks, iron, stone, etc.).

Jacinto's story

Jacinto was born in Chibuto, Gaza Province in southern Mozambique. He is married and has six children who all go to school. Jacinto finished fourth grade and quit school because of financial problems. He lives in his own house with his family and supports his mother-in-law by sending her money to help with household expenses. He left Inhambane to move to Maputo in search of a job. He has been a machine operator at CFM for more than 21 years and has an income of 12,000 meticais per month. He uses the money for household expenses and saves some in his bank account (at BIM). Jacinto had a long-term loan at BCI and paid it off without any problem. He learned about Hluvuku through a friend who is also a customer, and this is his fourth Hluvuku loan. He is asking for 20,000 meticais to buy construction materials FOR HIS HOME (cement, blocks, iron, stone and other items) to improve his house. The earlier loans were for 7,000 meticais, 10,000 meticais, and 7,000 meticais. They were used for housing and consumer goods. Jacinto dreams of finishing his house, installing running water and building a house for his children. To do so, he intends to ask Hluvuku for more loans.
