Pascualina's story

Pascualina was born in the city of Maputo, in the province of the same name. She is a single mother of two children, aged 10 and 14, who attend school. Pascualina stopped going to school after the 7th Grade owing to her financial circumstances. She lives in her own home with her family and does not support anyone else. She has never left Maputo. She has been a full-time business woman selling essential items for more than 11 years; she earns a monthly salary of 3,000MTs which covers her household expenses. She also saves a little in her Millennium BIM bank account. She has previously borrowed 4,000MTs from TCHUMA, another microfinance institution, for her business and she repaid this with ease. She heard about Hluvuku through her friend who is also a client. This is her second loan with Hluvuku, for 25,000MTs, which she intends to use to buy products such as peanuts, oil, rice, drinks and other items. Her first loan was for 10,000MTs and was also used for her business. She hopes to expand her business and finish building her premises. She intends to apply for further loans with Hluvuku in order to achieve this aim.
