Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $875 helped to buy fish.

Lucy's story

Lucy is a 37-year-old widow who has three children. She supports a total of six dependents. She has had a fish selling business for six years and her monthly income is about 27,000 Kenyan shillings (KES). She intends to use this 80,000 KES loan, her second loan from Kiva field partner Kadet Ltd., to purchase more fish to sell. Lucy hopes to be able to earn enough to buy plots of land for her children, and wants to excel at everything in life.
