Romilaine is 33 years old, but looks very young. She is married with one child to attend to. She is engaged in a farming activity to earn a living.
It requires hard work, patience, and interest to succeed. Romilaine has been able to manage six years at this work and earns PHP 6,000 a month.
Earlier this year, she joined GDMPC. Romilaine has requested a loan of PHP 30,000 from the cooperative to purchase farm fertilizers and pesticides for protection. The more inputs, the more possible income to generate. In this period of production, Romilaine hopes to reap more, have more farm to cultivate and sustain the livelihood as well.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
