A loan of $675 helped to buy chicks and feed for them.

Rosa Elvira's story

Rosa’s a member of the “Corazones de Turi” (Turi Hearts) communal bank. She lives in a community belonging to Turi Parish. This parish is noted for being the city’s scenic overlook. Its residents are merchants, raise livestock and farm. They are very kind people who maintain their culture and traditions.

Rosa is 42 years old. She’s a widow and has four children who are 24, 22, 20 and 18 years of age. Two of her children are married and are independent and two are still single, employed and help her out economically. She owns the house she lives in.

Rosa has worked as a domestic employee since she was eleven years old. She works Monday through Friday, half days. At home, she raises chickens, pigs and guinea pigs that she sells in the local farmers markets.

This is her fourth loan with the communal bank and she will use it to buy chicks and feed for them. Her goal is to have a place where she can work roasting pigs.
