A loan of $675 helped to purchase pigs.

María Julia's story

Señora María is a member of the communal bank "Corazones de Turi" (Hearts of Turi). She lives in a community that is a part of Turi Parrish. The Parrish is known for being the lookout of the city. The people there make their livings in commerce, raising livestock and in agriculture. They are very friendly people who preserve their culture and traditions.

Señora María is 21 years old. She is married, and together with her husband has one child, who is now 3 years old. Her husband makes his living in construction; he is a bricklayer. He owns the house they live in.

Our member makes her living cleaning houses, which she has done for the last 2 years. She works from Monday to Friday from 8am until 3pm.

This is Señora María's second loan with her communal bank, which her mother-in-law invited her to join. She will invest the money from this loan in the purchase of pigs, to start up a business.

Señora María's goal is to one day have a shop with telephone booths.
