A loan of $750 helped to buy more corn meal to make chicha de jora, as well as utensils and feed for her birds.

Acela's story

Acela is a 44 year old wife and mother. She lives with her husband and children in her own house, which only has electricity. It is located in the district of La Matanza, which belongs to the departament of Piura. Throughout this area, people work in farming, cattle and artisanal crafts.

Acela works making and selling chicha de jora (a delicious drink made from corn and very popular in northern Peru). She also raises poultry. She has done these activities for 2 years. It is a tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. Lately her sales of chicha de jora have increased, which has helped her increase her income and improve her family's quality of life. She also sells her poultry, which helps her with another income.

With an opportunity to grow, Acela has asked Edpyme Alternativa for a loan of 2000 nuevos soles to buy a large quantity of corn meal to make chicha de jora, as well as utensils and balanced feed for her birds. Her goal is to obtain more earnings and increase her clientele to pay off the loa and improve her family's quality of life.
