Born 45 years ago in Doumanani, Sikasso Prefecture, Souleymane is a polygamous man who has two wives and eleven children. He and his family are residents of Hamdallaye, a working-class district of Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After having run several businesses without success, he finally was introduced, about two years ago, to the buying and selling firewood, which he buys from peasant farmers in and around Denderso. He is much in demand by his customers for the quality of his products.

To satisfy his burgeoning customer base, he decided to join the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso and is now on his first individual loan with this institution. With this initial loan, he intends to buy two 10-tonne truckloads of firewood. His retail sales are in cash to a diverse and varied customer base.

With this loan, Souleymane envisions making a monthly profit of 100,000 francs CFA that will be used essentially for covering family expenses and the loan interest. The rest will be invested in his business.

Né il y’a 45 ans à Doumanani préfecture de Sikasso, Souleymane est un polygame qui a 2 femmes et 11 enfants. Il résidant avec sa famille à Hamdallaye, un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso (troisième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Monsieur Souleymane après avoir mené plusieurs activités sans succès, s’est finalement initié il y a environ deux années à l’achat vente du bois de chauffe qu’il achète auprès des paysans de Denderso et environnants. Il est beaucoup sollicité de sa clientèle pour la qualité de ses produits.
Pour satisfaire sa clientèle de plus en plus croissante, il décida de rejoindre l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec qui, il est à son premier prêt individuel.
Avec ce premier prêt, il compte acheter, 2 chargements de camion “10 tonnes” en bois de chauffe. Il revend en détail et au comptant à une clientèle diverse er variée.
Il envisage réaliser avec ce prêt un bénéfice mensuel de 100 000 FCFA qui sera utilisé essentiellement pour contribuer aux dépenses familiales, payer les intérêts de son prêt et investir le reste dans son activité.
