Kobenkoun Iv Group's story

The ten women of the group KOBENKOUN IV are all married, and they average 31 years of age and five children each. The women live in polygamous families in Kafla, a village of the Rural Commune of Banco, Prefecture of Dioïla, Region of Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members are collaborating with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of better organizing their work at the start of the off-season. The crops grown include rice and peanuts. The group members are on their first collaboration with the institution.

With this loan, FANTA, who is the second person sitting from the left in the photo, intends to buy farm inputs and assorted supplies and equipment and to pay for plowing to maintain about 0.5 hectare of rice and peanuts.

After the harvests, the produce is sold locally at the village market and at the markets of Banco and N’Golobougou. The customer base is composed of women and men. FANTA plans on making an average profit of 65,000 francs CFA at the end of the planting season.
