A loan of $600 helped to purchase glasses, glasses cases, and cellphone accessories in larger volumes.

Luis Alberto's story

62-year-old Luis Alberto has a business in the center of Barranquilla, a well known shopping area. He sells prescription and non-prescription glasses as well as accessories for cellphones. He started his business after receiving his redundancy settlement from the apparel company he worked for, with which he bought his house to ensure stability for his family. Luis Alberto's family includes his wife, and three children now aged between 20 to 30 years old. As he was without a fixed income at that time, he decided to start his own business venture in order to earn an income to support his family.

Luis Alberto's business has been growing, and has played a fundamental role in providing their children with higher level education. The children are currently completing their secondary educations and embarking on technical careers, enabling them to contribute to the household economy when required.

The demand for the glasses, cases and cellphone accessories that Luis Alberto sells is strong, however he cannot always raise enough working capital to be able to immediately supply the goods which are most in demand. This is the reason why Luis Alberto requires his credikiva, his first financing through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo with which he will buy glasses, cases, and cellphone accessories in larger volumes than he is usually able to.

Luis Alberto's dream is that his children will succeed in growing and permanently sustaining their businesses, so that they can help the family. While he is working to fulfill his dream, his business is making a profit of no less than 40.8%, which he plans to increase as he continues to purchase larger volumes of stock.
