Elicia is a brilliant woman who has always worked in her field of expertise. She is a seamstress and she offers repair and tailoring services. She is also a manicurist, offering her services in her clients' homes or in her house. She is a great business person who also has a store from where she sells merchandise such as clothing, accessories for men and women, perfumes, and cosmetics. She completes her sales on credit, detailing payment schedules with her clients. Elicia is the woman leader of the household. She has two children, 1 and 19 years old and she has always managed to take the reins of the household, earning an income and providing her daughter with educational opportunities. She is already in university and she is studying a career. For the past 8 years she has been carrying out her activities, ever since was trained by a corporation to improve her work. She has a great dream to have a beauty shop in a well-traveled shopping center, equipped with the entire infrastructure necessary to make her clients feel more comfortable. Her working capital is not enough to achieve her goals but now she has taken the first step by requesting a Kiva loan. It is the first loan she accesses through Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo (Kiva Field Partner) and she will purchase fabrics, threads, buttons, and products she needs to offer beauty services to her clients, including nail polish, hair dye, nail files, and irons. As Elicia works to achieve her dream she acquires a profit margin of 38%. It permits her to keep expanding and reinvesting into her business, and she has also been able to carry out some home improvements. Her greatest challenge is to proviD. her children with the best possible well-being. They are precisely the motor that drives her each day to continue her daily quest for success.
