Marine's story

Marine is 52 years old. She lives in the village of Chkhari, West Georgia. Marine is married and lives with her husband Zurab, two adult sons (28 and 25 years old), her daughter-in-law and 4-year-old granddaughter.

Marine heads up the agricultural activities of the family. They have three cows and sell on average 60 kg of cheese per month on the local open market. Also they have 0.75 hectares of land, where maize and grapes are grown. Harvested maize is used in the farm for feeding the cows; grapes, harvested from 1000 grape vines are sold locally. Marine’s sons assist her in the farm. Zurab has a truck and provides transportation services to the local population and businesses. He earns approximately 500 Laris per month. Total average monthly income of the family is 1300 Laris.

With the requested credit Marine’s family will purchase a mini-bus. It will be equipped with liquid gas tanks and used as mobile gas station – filling the empty gas tanks of the villagers in the district. The new business initiative will be led by Marine’s sons. It will significantly increase the income of the family. Increased income will allow them to improve their living conditions.
