Maylinda is 30 years old and married. She is from Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She has lovingly and patiently taken good care of her 5 school-aged children. Maylinda, together with her husband, has been selling lumber for 5 years. The couple is gradually acquiring business related facilities to improve the services offered. The business gives a monthly cash inflow of PHP 20,000.
Maylinda has to sustain her livelihood as it is the sole source of income for the household. In 2008, she became an official GDMPC member. This loan, amounting to PHP 50,000, is the 13th loan application she has had with GDMPC. She intends to purchase lumber supplies to update her service offerings. Maylinda hopes to produce a variety of lumber supplies for sale and to innovate the business sales area.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
