A loan of $750 helped to buy a chain saw.

Teresa's story

Teresa is 60, and lives with Macedonio who is 54. They have 3 children, and live in their own house in the district of Pichari. Teresa has farmed since she was very young; specifically, growing cacao. But when she started her family, she and her husband acquired a small plot of land where they grew cacao and coffee, two products for which there is a lot of market demand.

For Teresa, these have been years of much sacrifice and hardship. But today, she says that she is very proud; that if it weren't for their crops, they would never have managed to buy their house, nor would they have been able to help their children finish university. In future, she just hopes to have a clothing store, since the work in the fields is now very tiring for her.

This is her second loan with MFP, so she is again committed to making her payments promptly. With the 2,000 soles she is applying for, she will buy a chain saw, so that she can prune her cacao plants.
