A loan of $350 helped buy the necessary ingredients to bake and sell bread.

Socorro's story

Socorro is 52 years old and studied only in primary school. She is married and her husband works in the countryside. They have 3 children who are now married adults.

Socorro tells us that just a little over 2 months ago, she and her husband began a small business baking and selling bread. She says that she had always wanted her own business and, consequently, she began to learn how to bake bread, obtaining a small oven to initiate the work. Thanks to God, Socorro has now opened a small bakery shop.

Socorro comments that every day at mid-day she begins to bake bread for the afternoon, then goes out to sell it to friends and neighbors in the community. She also says that there is no bakery in her town and, therefore, her goods sell well. Sometimes her neighbors come to her house in search of bread and she doesn't have to go out to sell.

Socorro needs this loan to invest in purchasing sugar, flour, firewood, eggs, bread molds, and colorful icing for baking her bread to sell in town.

Socorro hopes that with this loan, her business will expand and she can obtain more customers and augment sales and earnings and thus, be able to improve her business little by little.
