A loan of $350 helped a member to buy inputs, seeds, and small equipment, and to pay for labor.

Benkadi V Group's story

The Benkadi V solidarity group is composed of seven members, all married women who average 43 of years of age and five children each, and who live in polygamous families in Banco, the country seat of a rural town in the prefecture of Dioïla in the Koulikoro region, second administrative region of Mali.

They have partnered with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution to better organize their activities at the beginning of the rainy season. Their crops include rice and groundnuts. This is their first time collaborating with the MFI.

With this loan, AWA, seated first from the right, plans to purchase inputs and small equipment, and pay for labor to maintain approximately 0.25 hectare of rice and groundnuts.

After the harvest, the crops are sold locally at the Banco market and in N'Golobougou to a clientele composed of both men and women. The group members intend to earn an average profit of about 20,000 FCFA per season.

In this group: Sanata, Sanata, Mariam, Fatoumata, Awa, Dounanba, Sakinassa
