A loan of $575 helped to purchase "family shopping basket" items and various merchandise such as women's accessories.

Maria Eugenia's story

Maria is the owner of a variety business and a small store located in the neighborhood when she lives, in the city of Cartagena. She lives with her husband and their children, who are ages 3 to 9 years old. She started her business with seed capital awarded by the mayor's office. She put all of her energy into the business to make it grow and generate more income each day, to benefit her family. Initially, she sold few products. But with her discipline, she has re-invested her profits, and now she offers a variety of products for sale, such as: food, supplies, sodas, women's articles, household accessories, paper products etc. Her greatest challenge is having sufficient capital and work to meet the growing demand that exceeds her expectations daily. This is the reason she requested her credikiva, her first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With the loan she will purchase "family shopping basket" items and varied merchandise, like women's accessories. Her investment will be successful because she sells her merchandise on credit. She would be able to offer better prices to her customers for items purchased in greater volume. Her goal down the road is to fix up her home and achieve full prosperity from her business in order to assure her family's well-being.
