A loan of $550 helped to buy several sacks of natural fertilizer and chicken waste fertilizer.

Eduardo's story

Eduardo, 23, lives at home with his mother, Agripina, his older brother, Orlando, and his nephew, Etson. They live in the Cumutay rural community. From a very early age he helped his parents with the long farm days and learned all about growing crops. He now grows potatoes, peas and corn, together with his brother, on land that belongs to his mother. He enjoys his work and watching over the land with dedication, providing everything necessary to ensure a quality crop. At harvest time he hires workers so he can sell all of his produce to wholesale distributors in the city. They pay decent prices, especially for the peas, which can command a high price on the national market.

Being the young entrepreneur that he is, in the future he wants to buy more farmland since he now has only two patches and sometimes rents others. He is full of ambition and wants to open a fertilizer store in the city. He belongs to the communal bank "Lindo amanecer de Cumutay" and this is his fifth loan through MFP. He is grateful to all the people who wish to help him, since it will allow him to continue working toward progress. Eduardo plans to use the loan to buy several sacks of natural fertilizer and chicken waste fertilizer for the upcoming planting season of the "única" variety potato of which he hopes to produce 20 sacksfull.
