A loan of $1,200 helped to buy raw materials to continue making disinfectants.

María Elena's story

María Elena is a 25-year-old woman living in San Miguel de los Bancos. She’s a single mother of a son who is 8 years old now. She lives in her mother’s house. Her mother is also María and is 53 years old. She works hand washing other people’s clothes.

María Elena suffered the lack of employment opportunities and, needing to support her son, learned how to make disinfectant supplies for home cleaning two years ago from a friend. Since then, she’s been totally involved in this activity. She works up to ten hours daily because it’s very hard work. What was most difficult for María to learn was sales because, according to her, she had no experience in that. A niece, who is employed in the public sector, visits her in her free time and helps her. María wants to invest in raw materials to make her products so needs a loan to reach the objective that’s part of her great goal.

She loves activities in the fresh air and plays soccer. She tries to share to the greatest extent possible with her mother and son. She dreams with making the business grow and to sell her products nationally.
