María Margarita's story

Maria is a member of the communal bank named "Mujer y Fortaleza", meaning "Woman and Strength". She lives near the Parish of Turi. This Parrish is highly visited for being the lookout of the city. From here you can admire a large part of Cuenca. The people are dedicated to commerce, raising livestock, and to agriculture. They also carry out various businesses in the city.

Maria is 30 years old, married, and the fruit of her relationship has been her 5 children, aged 10, 8, 6, 3, 1, and an 8-month old baby. Her three eldest children attend primary school in the city. Her husband works in the field of construction as a construction worker. The house in which they live is their own property.

Maria is employed at a restaurant from 8am until 5pm, working from Monday to Saturday. At home she raises poultry and guinea pigs for their own consumption and to sell.

She has been with her communal bank for 3 years and her new loan will be invested in the purchase of poultry and their feed, to keep up this business.

Her goal is to finish building her house, as some finishes are still required.
