Sonia's story

Sonia is 49 years old and she lives with Jaime. They have 6 children together but only 2 live with them: Karina and Juan. They live as a family in a house of their own, located in Union Palomar (central Peruvian jungle). Since she was a little girl, Sonia has been involved in agriculture. Thanks to her parents she was able to learn cultivation techniques but she also learned to be tactful in the way the harvest is sold. She has been sowing her own products for more than 20 years, including bananas, avocados, coffee, peppers and ginger. She manages the cultivations with great care, not wanting to waste the knowledge she gained from her parents. Her efforts and her perseverance have resulted in being able to sell her harvests at a good price. So much so that during the planting season the merchants who visit the region offer her better prices for the harvest. She is planning to improve the quality of her cultivations to be able to sell her coffee beans to coffee exporters. With the support and the training she receives from her communal bank she is sure to attain her goals. She is a member of the communal bank "La Union Hace la Fuerza del Palomar", meaning "Unity is the Strength of Palomar". This is her second loan with MFP (Kiva Field Partner) and she hopes to everyone's support in helping her achieve her objectives. She is committed to be on time with her loan payments. Sonia will start her pepper and ginger plantation. With your support she will purchase various sacks of natural fertilizers in order to have a successful plantation.
