A loan of $750 helped to buy sacks of fertilizer.

Rafael's story

Rafael, 36, lives with Cledia and three (Junior, Sarai and Amitai) of their four children in their own house in Unión Palomar (central Peruvian forest). Rafael's main business is growing coffee and bananas. Together they care for the crops every weekend, then at harvest time sell the produce in the cities of La Merced and Villarica, where they travel constantly. They have been involved in agriculture for six years. In the future they want to improve the quality of their produce and would like to get involved in bidding as a supplier to official Peruvian social dining rooms, prisons and other institutions.

Rafael is happy with the support he receives from his wife who packages coffee seedlings for nurseries. She averages 4,000 to 5,000 bags per month, which generates extra income for the household. He belongs to the communal bank "La Unión hace la fuerza del Palomar" and this is his second loan through MFP. He is sure that through joint work, commitment and support the communal bank will become even better. He is counting on each of you to help him with his goal. Rafael plans to use the loan to buy several sacks of natural fertilizer to start the coffee seedling process and plan for next year's harvest.
