A loan of $625 helped to purchase hay for his cows.

Shota's story

Shota is from the village of Ikalto, Kakheti Region, East Georgia. He is 26 years old, married and lives with his family: his wife Teona, his 20-year-old brother and his parents. Shota works as a distributor in a local distribution company and has a salary of 400 Laris per month.

Shota’s family runs a dairy farm. Shota is involved in the family business. They produce yogurt and cheese and sell it in Telavi. The average income of the family from the dairy farm is 900 Laris.

Shota requested a loan to purchase feed for the cows. They will purchase hay, which will be used for feeding the cows during the fall and winter seasons. Hay is cheap now and the price increases by 30-40 % in the fall months. By purchasing the hay in July, Shota significantly saves on the cost of feeding the cows. Since the cows will be fed properly in winter, they’ll give a planned amount of milk to the family.
