A loan of $850 helped to repair her pigpen.

Tatiana Karina's story

Tatiana is a 33 year old single mother and lives alone with her 5 year old son in the “San Miguel de los Bancos” settlement. She’s always had a simple life, as is common in rural areas, but once her son came, she saw the need to begin working to be able to provide for him.

Three years ago she began raising pigs. Her son’s father used to do this work, but she later learned how to do it on her own. She either raises the pigs or buys them to butcher them. When she does this, it must be done by early morning so that the meat can be sold to wholesalers so that they can resell it early in the morning. Her pigpen is small and only holds a few pigs. It doesn’t have a gate and she must keep them tied up. She needs this loan in order to fix up her pigpen.

Like any mother, all of her efforts are so that she can give a better life to her son. Tatiana only completed elementary school and wants her son to someday have a professional career.
