A loan of $2,950 helped a member to purchase cheese.

Villa Lipe Group's story

The communal bank Villa Lipe will begin its first cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Achacachi regional office. It is made up of 11 members and is led by a directive board headed up by Mrs. Virginia. The businesses carried out by the members of the communal association are varied; among them they have: lunch sales, cheese sales, purchase and sale of livestock, neighborhood grocery, potato sales, and chemical sales.

Mrs. Virginia indicates that this is her first time working with Pro Mujer and that she joined the institution at the invitation of the loan officer. Currently she has a business selling cheese, which she has been working in for ten years, having learned it from her mother.

The loan she will take out now is to increase her capital to buy cheese which she will purchase from the merchants of Achacachi and sell at the La Ceja market on Thursdays and Saturdays. This type of work allows her to generate resources for supporting her family, since she is a widow and has seven children.
