Lira's story

Lira, 31, is married and lives in the village of Tash-Aryk in the Talas district. Lyra is raising five daughters, two of whom are college students, in her close-knit family. Her husband, Sultanmurat, is the mainstay in her life. In 2000, the couple decided to start a business breeding cattle, which was begun by buying a cow for 5,000 som (KGS). Through hard work and dedication, her farm now has ten head of sheep and one horse. Also, the family farms 1.5 hectares of irrigated land, where they have planted grasses and beans. In order to further development her business, Lira is asking for a loan in the amount of 50,000 Som (KGS) to increase the number of her livestock.
