Christine's Group's story

Christine‘s group is comprised of two hardworking women. Christine is 16 years old and lives in the town of Kyengera in the Kampala Central region of Uganda. She is single and has no children. Christine has a beauty salon business, which she has run for two years.
To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 200,000 Ugandan Shillings from Kiva partner, BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase hair braids for resale. With the help of her loan from BRAC, Christine hopes to generate greater profits and pay school fees for herself. In the future, she hopes to expand her business further.
Christine is a member of BRAC’s Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program, which has aided her prospects for the future by helping her to pay her school fees from the earnings from her business.
