A loan of $700 helped to purchase compost and farming supplies.

Eugenio Leonel's story

Eugenio Leonel is 21 years old, single, and lives alone in the canton of Ventanas in Los Ríos Province.

The members of the Communal Bank "Jesus Nos Ama" (Jesus Loves Us) meet in the neighborhood of Recinto Los Amarillos, which is part of the canton of Ventanas. This Communal Bank consists of short-cycle farmers who grow corn, rice, and pigeon peas.

Eugenio is a farmer who grows corn, rice, and pigeon peas. He buys his supplies at Briones Agrochemicals and then sells his products at the wholesale market in Ventanas.

He is requesting a loan for growing corn. He will buy composts and supplies for his crops. With the financial assistance provided through this loan, he will be able to acquire needed supplies and improve in his farming activities. The challenges he faces include diseases that could impact his crops, such as “red stripe” (a strain of virus that attacks corn). His dream is to buy a farm.

Eugenio enjoys playing sports.
