A loan of $525 helped to expand her business.

Nancy Cecilia's story

Nancy is 57 years old. She has four children; ages 27, 23, 22, and 19. She lives with her 80 year old parents. She has a small place where she sells juice, 'tostadas' (fried tortillas), beer, and rechargeable calling cards. She sells in the Luz de América parish in Santo Domingo. This woman has gone through various difficulties that have marked her life, her husband’s death and her father’s illness.

In order to support her household and to help her parents, two years ago she started her own business with her daughter. The most difficult part is the long work day, which is 15 hours every day.

She wants to buy more products to sell at her place. That way she will get more income. That is why she requested the loan, which will help her improve her income and her quality of life.

Her big dream is to see all of her children become professionals. Of course, she wants to see her parents with better living conditions. In order to do so she needs to make a great effort and struggle until she reaches her goal.
