A loan of $1,075 helped to buy fruit to sell.

Diarío Javier's story

Darío is 33 years old. He was born in Pedernales in the Esmeraldas province. He has an eight year old daughter.

He has been selling fruit in the Santo Domingo canton in the Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas province for two years. He lives with his mother, Silvia, a merchant. Since he was very young he has helped his parents in the business activity that is now his support.

He tells us that one of the obstacles that he has had in his life is having left school because he needed to work and help his mother.

His dream is to one day sell fruit that he himself produces. In other words, he wants to have his own fields.

He requested a loan from the Fundación Alternativa. It will allow him to buy fruit from wholesale providers. They give him a cheaper price than what he now pays. That way he will be able to be more competitive, and his margin of earnings will be bigger.

Darío really likes spending time with his daughter and his mother. He hopes to improve his financial situation to be able to give them a better quality of life.
