Paula's story

Paula is 31 years old, married, and she has 2 school-aged children. She owns her own home and it is located in a rural region in the department of Lambayeque. Her home is equipped with water and electricity. The community is small and it consists of approximately 50 families.

Paula raises and sells small livestock, such as poultry, ducks, hens, turkeys, etc. She has been in business for the past 15 years. She runs her business from corrals located in the rear section of her property. She learned the business from her parents, which is to say that she knows the business perfectly.

Paula requests a loan from Edpyme Alternativa (Kiva Field Partner) in the amount of 1500 nuevos soles. She will invest in the purchase of small livestock to raise and to purchase feed, for poultry and for pigs. This business has competition but there is also a large sales market.

Paula is a very hardworking woman and she is devoted to her family. Her greatest dream is to keep growing in her business and to keep helping her husband so that her family will have a better quality of life.
