A loan of $925 helped to buy utensiles, plates and to pay the rent.

Maria's story

María is 52 years old and the mother of three adult, independent daughters. She lives alone because her husband is in a different city for work related reasons. María is a very enterprising woman. She likes to go into a variety of occupations. Now, she’s starting to sell daily meals in a well-known market in the city. She started this business alongside her two daughters that she’s forming a partnership with because she used to sell groceries at her daughter’s house but that didn’t have good results. She’s been in the new business two weeks and she’s throwing all her effort and enthusiasm into it to succeed. Because it’s a new endeavor there are things she’s unfamiliar with and others that excite her very much. She hopes to grow together with her daughters and she feels that they are on the right path because, to date, they’ve been winning over many customers.

This is the third MFP loan and she intends to continue working because she’s very well liked in the communal bank for she is one of the founding members but had to drop out due to illness but now she’s once again looking to feel useful again. She will use the requested 2500 soles to buy utensils and equipment for the new business as well as pay the rental on the locale where her restaurant is.
