Josephine's story

This is a shopkeeper, 54 years old, who is married and the mother of three children to support. They range from 18 to 30 years of age. She opened a restaurant in 1983 for having seen the difficulties her family has had.  The purpose of her business is to meet the needs of her family and to cover the cost of her children’s schooling. Her restaurant is located in her home. It is very famous. Most of her customers are taxi drivers and bus drivers who come early in the morning or at noon to eat. Her average sales range from 20,000 to 55,000 francs a day.

With this loan she is going to receive, she will purchase 2 boxes of salted fish, a 50-kg sack of rice, 2 boxes of ocean fish, some condiments, 25 liters of peanut oil, and a 25-kg sack of beans.  Her strategy is to get up early to satisfy her customer base and to keep her restaurant very clean. Her ambition is to build a large modern and well-equipped restaurant, to buy plastic chairs, to buy sets of plates, bowls, and glasses, and some table cloths.
