Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,100 helped to buy lumber, kitchenware and foodstuffs for the restaurant.

Neri's story

Neri, 47, is a member of the “Vilcanota” communal bank which belongs to Urubamba District in Urubamba Province and Cusco Department.

She has a spouse and four children. She works in the administrative department of the public prosecutor’s office in Chinchero. In her free time and with help from her family she runs her restaurant “Pintacha.” She also helps out her spouse with the carpentry: on weekends and when she can she checks over the finishings, orders and payments at the carpentry shop her spouse runs and works.

On this occasion she wants to use the loan to buy kitchenware for the restaurant, to buy dishes and cutlery that always need to be replaced and increased. She will also buy ingredients and large containers of oil, rice and potatoes among the items that are used the most. She will use another part of it to buy lumber. She is asking for the loan to buy lumber, kitchenware and foodstuffs for the restaurant.

She is grateful for and values the loan that will be granted to improve her and her family’s quality of life.
