A loan of $900 helped to buy ingredients and fruit.

Margarita Isabel's story

In the Portoviejo settlement of the Crucita parish we find a place known as “Los Arenales.” This is where the members of the “Nueva Generación” get together every two weeks. This place is known for its beautiful beaches, it’s food, and the warmness of its people. Here we meet Margarita. She is 54 years old, single and lives with her mother and sister. She was part of the group since it began, left, and then rejoined because the loans are of great help for her business. Our friend has been running a pub at a local school for more than 30 years, where she sells all types of products that she prepares. She says that she only sells healthy food so that the children develop well. She sells corviches, empanadas, chicken with rice, fruit salads, and ceviches, among other delicious things. She also says that she tries not to sell the same things daily so that she can keep the kids happy by giving them a variety. Now she wants to buy what she needs in order to sell lunches for the teachers who have to stay until the evenings. She will use the money from this loan to buy ingredients to prepare her food and also fruits for juices. Her dream is to continue giving the best to the children who are her best customers.
