Kurmi Group's story

The “Kurmi” community bank is about to start its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Los Andes regional office. The group has eight members and is run by a board of directors which is headed by Griselda. The businesses that the members of the community bank are engaged in are varied and include: selling food, carpentry, weaving, selling plastic products, beauty salon, making bread and selling stuffed toys.

Griselda tells us that this is the first time she has worked with Pro Mujer and she joined the institution through an invitation from a friend. She currently has a business selling food that she set up seven years ago. She learned this business from her mom.

Griselda will use this loan to buy furniture (tables and chairs) for her sales location. After preparing her food, she sells it in Avenida Ayo Ayo. This work allows her to make money with which to support her family. She lives with her partner and has three children.

When we asked Griselda what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes working as part of a group.

In this group: Griselda, Martha , Domitila , Jhenny Isabel, Victor Gustavo , Teodora Julia , Maria Elena , Simona
