A loan of $1,075 helped to buy replacement parts and supplies for his electrical appliance workshop.

Luis Alberto's story

Luis, age 28, lives in the Santo Domingo canton in the Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas province. When he was very young he learned how to repair electrical appliances. Now he devotes himself to repairing home appliances. He has a workshop where his customers come, but he occasionally goes to their home to provide service.

He lives with his wife, Susana, and their eight year old son. Susana sells cosmetics, but during her free time she helps her husband with his workday, which is sometimes 15 hours a day. Luis’ passion is his work. Ever since he studied in school he has had an interest in electrical appliances. His interest got to the point that he used his own initiative and learned the trade.

Some years ago he had a motorcycle accident that changed his life. Going through this difficult situation, he learned to value his family more. He now wishes to spend more time with them.

That is why Luis came to the Fundación Alternativa to look for a loan. He wants the loan to buy supplies in order to improve his business. He wants to modernize it so that repairs take less time. That way he can share more time with his family.

Luis dreams of giving his family a better quality of life. He especially wishes to give his son a good education.
