Sop Serigne Cheikh Group's story

The solidarity group Sop Serigne Cheikh was created on 27 December 2010 and comprises 16 women who are from the same town and are mainly active in running small retail businesses and animal rearing.

Ms. Ndéye Codou, the group leader, is a 29-year-old married mother of four. She raises animals but also runs a small retail business; she is dressed in yellow and standing all the way on the right in the photo.

She owns many goats and sheep that she sells at the weekly market days, where she buys fruits and vegetables to re-sell at her town.

Her loan will serve to diversify her business by buying other products to sell in order to earn more income.

She participates in providing for her family by taking care of food and clothing needs.
