Hadjah's story

Hadjah lives in Uganda. She is married and has four children, all of whom are in school. She also takes care of additional family members (a sister and a brother).

Hadjah has a business of selling charcoal. She has been in this business for ten years, and she works seven days every week. Hadjah sells her products from home, by means of wholesale. Hadjah has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan Shillings from MCDT SACCO, which she will use to buy more bags of charcoal.

The main business challenges for Hadjah include transportation and the rainy season. Her goals and aspirations for her business are to own a delivery van and also to buy a plot of land. Hadjah lives in a home that she rents; she has access to electricity and has access to piped water. Her major monthly expenses include rent, school fees and medication.
