A loan of $1,100 helped to hire field hands.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina is 34 years old, is married to Wilmer, and they have four children. They live in a home of their own, located in the Sivia ecological district. She recalls that she began farming when she was a little girl, having learned this art from her parents. She spent most of her time harvesting cacao and coffee, recalling that that there is high demand for these products in the marketplace. It’s for this reason that she began working her own plantation, independent of her parents’, but not before being grateful for what they taught her. Currently she raises cacao and it provides a good income, so she does her best to care for her crops and protect them from any infestation that may come about. She usually gets her husband’s help, but during the harvest season she needs additional help from field hands. This will be her first loan through MFP and she is committed to making her payments on time. She will use the 3,000 PEN to hire field hand to prepare her cacao parcel.
